Writing Week in Review, Week Four: Four down, four to go?

Words: 11,097 ~ I know. I think that might be a record, at least for me. These were all brand new words, too. No previously written scenes--actually, I don�t have any more of those.

Drink of choice: Nonfat chai tea latte.

Music that made its way into the manuscript: Landon�s unbelievably sappy prom mix, Landon�s all crying/all the time broken heart mix, which includes:

• You Give Love a Bad Name


• Bringing on The Heartbreak


• Love Stinks


• Kissing a Fool


• Boulevard of Broken Dreams

He�s not always subtle, our Landon.

Darlings:

• MacKenna was hoping for some old school rock and roll--for something loud, something head-banging worthy--to blast from the Corvette�s speakers. Something, in other words, to distract Landon. They weren�t even out of Black Earth before she realized what came from the speakers didn�t so much as blast as ooze.
  �What on earth is this?� MacKenna pointed to the stereo.
  �Mood music.�
  �Songs to barf by?� she suggested.
• For three blocks, MacKenna ignored the car, which was really hard to do since it was bumblebee yellow. Even harder, it was a Corvette. Hardest of all, Landon had rolled down the passenger side window and was simultaneously trying to drive and talk to her.
  �You got to go,� she said.
  �It�s not against the law to drive down your road.�
  �Try telling that to my dad.�
